Roles of Catholic Education

Our common mission in all aspects of Catholic education is to teach as Jesus taught and to imitate Him in all we say and do in our parishes, schools, neighborhoods, and throughout our world.

The Role of Catholic Schools

The benefits of Catholic schools extend far and wide. They make positive contributions to community, business and political life. As such, the U.S. Bishops, in Renewing Our Commitment, called upon the entire Catholic community to support Catholic schools and make them available and accessible to all Catholic families. Catholic leaders from around the nation have responded generously and dedicated their institutional and intellectual resources to ensuring the success of Catholic schools.

We invite all those interested in the work of the Consortium to read the noteworthy documents – including the U.S. Bishops’ 2005 statement Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium – about the status and future of Catholic schools. We also encourage you to visit the Web sites of the organizations and foundations which support and work with the Consortium.
