Federal Programs Benefits Conference
This special event was held February 20, 2008 to disseminate the outcomes of the Mid-Atlantic Catholic Schools Consortium’s Federal Programs Benefits study and its implications and strategies for accessing unused federal funds through the NCLB programs. Highlights included: 91 people attended from 21 different states including Superintendents of Catholic Schools, Administrators, State Catholic Conference Education Directors, Advocates for Non-Public Schools, and School Development Directors
Attendees received a copy of the Final Report and Resource Guide with legislative implications and strategies

Study Project Overview: Hundreds of thousands of dollars of federal funds, specifically designated for use by non-public school students and teachers under the current No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, often are not being fully accessed by Catholic schools. - Determine the current level of Catholic school participation in the federal NCLB programs.
- Determine potential amount of unused funding available.
- Oversee efforts to access unused federal funds and to pool resources to maximize benefits.
- Use the information gained in this project to inform the reauthorization of the NCLB.
- Build diocesan-level capacity to identify, secure, and leverage federal funds
